A walk at the park

First off, yesterday we had a great day outside playing and enjoying the awesome weather.

Then we gathered up almost all of the baby stuff in our house and took it to a friends house.
We had to take them out for a final spin first. This morning I took the girls over to moms so I could go for a run at the park. I almost kept the same pace as the 5k a few weeks ago but it was a lot easier run.
Negative split success! And it was a beautiful morning!
Then Mom and I took the girls to the park and the library.
It's been a fun day! Now we are going to play outside and have sushi for dinner. Yup. It's awesome.

The extra mile

I ended up running an extra mile this morning by accident.
You mean that doesn't add up to 3 miles? Hit and Run was on in the cardio cinema room and it is really funny.  I pulled the security cord halfway through by accident. Whoops!

Anyway look at this pretty girl :)
They are so sweet (when they aren't fighting).
Which isn't often,  but happens sometimes :)

Half Marathon Training

*FIND UPDATED VERSION HERE*
I have a new friend, named Hal Higdon.  I'm not really sure how much I like him yet....I think he's trying to kill me. lol :) I started out using his Intermediate Half Marathon Training program a few weeks ago.  It's been going well so far.  I feel like I might be doing a little too much too fast.  But it's not supposed to be easy either.  So I think as long as I don't have any real, serious pain....I'll just keep going.  I extended it a little so that I could ease into it.

Here's what I've been doing:
Week 1
Monday: (work) 3 mile run (9:05)
Tuesday: 6 mile run (9:28)/bodypump
Wednesday: 5x400 @ 5k pace (2.35mi/9:34)
Thursday: 3 mile run (9:18)/bodypump
Friday: (work) 3 mile run (9:25)/yoga
Saturday: 2 miles (9:25)/bodypump
Sunday: rest

Week 2
Monday: (work) 3 mile run (9:09)
Tuesday: 5 mile run (9:29)/bodypump
Wednesday: 5 miles (9:32)
Thursday: 5 miles (9:15)/bodypump
Friday: (work) 5x400 @ 5k pace (9:45)/yoga
Saturday: 3 miles (9:32)
Sunday: rest

Week 3
Monday: (work)3 miles (9:13)
Tuesday: 6 miles (9:29)
Wednesday: 5x400 (8:50)
Thursday: 30 minute tempo (3.22mi/9:22)/bodypump
Friday: (work) PAL 5k (3.11mi/26:31min/8:28)
Saturday: 1 mile (9:31)/bodypump
Sunday: rest

Week 4
Monday: (work) 3.52 miles (9:23)
Tuesday: 6 miles (9:32)/bodypump
Wednesday: 2.04 mi (9:19) 20 minute tempo
Thursday: 4 mi (9:30)/yoga/bodypump

And we are up to date :) I may just update this post as training progresses instead of a million boring posts.

Monkey Joes

We decided that since Daddy had to work this weekend, we should meet Grandma Pat at Monkey Joes in Columbia.
Grammy and Grandaddy went with us thank goodness because the play areas for the girls were at two different sides of the building.
Highlight: ice cream :)
The girls had a blast!

New PR and a really fun time

Last night after work I ran in the local Police Athletic Leagues Blue Night 5k.
August 16th bear in mind, but it was mid 60's drizzling and super chilly for us during the summer.  When I signed up I was really dreading running in that hot muggy summer afternoon heat, but all was well!

I met my running buddy there (stalked her out of the crowd) because I knew I would push harder if I was chasing her. And it worked!  I set a new personal record of 26:30 which blew my previous
29:35 out of the water.
But this is the first time I can really say I worked hard that whole race!  We ran with a bunch of 16ish year old guys the whole time who were not having to work hard at all but kept a pretty steady pace (does mot reflect in my splits) so it worked out ok.
James met me at the finish line with flowers! Winner!

We stayed for the awards because you just never know, and Erika and I ended up getting 2nd and 3rd in our age group. I was third :) I started sprinting way to far away from the finish and rather than throw up in front of everybody I slowed down a smidge.

Yay us!

Oh and the girls...yeah they were perfectly happy warm and cozy at Grammys house watching little rascals.
I'd call it a success!

Girls night out

After the gym we had to go get some ice cream...
They are always so good there and everybody brags on them...
Yay!

Birthday!

I had my big birthday.  Mimi and papaw came :) it was great fun! Here are some pics...

It was so much fun!

And papaw brought me flowers!

Big talker

Caitlyn has been talking really well for a while, but lately she's really been surprising me.

It's now common to hear things like "Emmy hit me..eye!" "That hurt" "Momma come on" "Grandaddy coming?" "Don't want it" and when we see a car that is the same color as Grammys she will point and say "gammy car!"

The ladies at the gym always comment on how well she talks for her age or how she remembers the other babies names.

She is just growing up too fast!

And we had a picnic outside last night :)

Leaving my phone unattended

This morning I went to the gym and ran 5 miles for the second day in a row.  I talked them into changing the movie so I was kinda obligated to stay in there a while.  We started getting ready for Mimi and Papaws visit when we got home and sometime during the day I apparently left my phone unattended....

because this is what I found on my camera roll.  These kids are crazy!
More self photography.

And here's the girls watching a movie last night.  They are just so sweet!

Lake Day

We made an impromptu trip to the lake on Sunday.  When I told Emily to get her stuff together, this is what I got.

They were some happy girls!

We love the lake!

Mrs Linda did Emily's hair in her first French braid ever.

Watch out sassy pants!

Ready to get on the boat!

I forgot Caty's bathing suit top so she borrowed one of Lexs sun shirts.

They both loved the boat!

Caitlyn got a good nap.

And Emily got in some good snuggles :)

When we got back to the house...the paddle boards came out.
After trying approximately 27 times to stand up and falling off...
Emily and I went for a little paddle around.  It was such a fun day!
