Edisto Part Three

So I finally got around to hooking my camera up to my computer and here are the pictures that I took at Edisto this summer.  Being able to upload pictures straight from my phone has got me spoiled!
Emily got to play with her best friend a little in the sand :)

Those blue eyes :) sweet girl!

We are really looking forward to Hilton Head so we can hopefully have a lot more beach time.  HHI has a lot more sand then Edisto.  We love the beach!

A Day at the Park

The weather here was unseasonably pretty today. It has been so hot and muggy and today there was a breeze in the mid-80's. So we had to get up and get moving and go to the park.

Most of what Emily did was watch the other kids.  She will get right in a group of little girls and run with them and watch them talk...and not say a word.

She's getting to be a real dare-devil!
And a tri-cycle riding pro!
And Caitlyn, our good little sport, enjoys watching!

Beach Blast

Aiken Downtown Development Association has a beach blast every year. They fill up one of the streets with sand and let the kids play and have music and vendors. We took the girls for the first time this year and it was a lot of fun!

Emily had a great time in the sand.

An watching people dance.

She also made it in the newspaper spotted section on their website.

She wasn't so sure about that camera man. But fun was had by all. It was a cool event on a hot night :)

Caitlyn is 9 months old. WHAT?!?!?!?

How did my sweet little baby go from this....
to this....
so quick?
They are starting to play together a little.
Caitlyn has two teeth now.
She waves.
She says Momma, Dad and bye when she waves.
She is crawling and pulling up.
She has really grown a lot recently!

Love Books Exchange Part II

I'm not sure about the etiquette of copying a pasting another blogs post...but it was about our package and I'm giving them credit so hopefully we are okay. I really wanted the post to show when I print our blog book later. So with that said, as part of our love books exchange we did our post on the package they sent us and here is their post on the package we sent them.

"Summer Book Exchange- Little Blue Truck

The Educators' Spin On It

Growing Book by Book participated in a summer book exchange hosted by The Educators’ Spin On It.  Twenty different bloggers exchanged a children’s book and follow-up activity with a partner.  Our partner was The New Vincent Family.  So, what book did we get?  Take a look…

Little Blue Truck by Alice Schetle and Jill McElmurry has been a favorite of my 19 month old now for the past two months.  And, I have to admit, it’s probably my favorite one to read to him too.  Little Blue travels through the country saying, “Beep, Beep, Beep,” to all the animals that greet him.  Then along comes a not so friendly dump truck which gets stuck in the mud.  As he cries, “Honk,” for help, the animals ignore the plea.  When Little Blue comes along and tries to help, he gets stuck too.  As he calls, “Beep, Beep, Beep,” the animals come to help push him and the dump truck out of the muck.  Dump truck learns an important lesson about being nice and having friends to help you out of tough spots.  The book ends with Little Blue taking all the animals back home.
I love the message of kindness in this book.  It has great rhythm which makes reading it aloud so fun.  Since my son is really into animal sounds, it fits the bill in that department too.
The New Vincent Family sent us a 2 pictures of a blue truck, an empty cereal box and a piece of ribbon to create our own truck to pull.  We were also given an assortment of farm animals to pull in our truck.

We were able to work on identifying animals and imitating their sounds during this activity.  The New Vincent Family also suggested that we could work on color words since the text of what each animal says in the story is a different color.
It’s great to have another copy of this book, since our original is getting a little worn.  We are also excited to check out the newer Little Blue Truck Leads the Way.

Thank you to The New Vincent Family for the fun package.  And, thank you to The Educators’ Spin On It for hosting such a great project.
Have you ever participated in a book exchange?  If so, what book(s) did you send or receive?  We are always looking for ideas for next time!
Stay tuned to see what Growing Book by Book sent The New Vincent Family and for an opportunity to receive a special care package sent to your house from Growing Book by Book!"

Little Things

Tonight after trying my nerves all day this happened...

I said "I love you to pieces" Emmy replied "thank you". "thank you for what?" "for Caitlyn, thank you for Caitlyn."

I am so thankful for this sweet girl!

Fathers Day

So let me begin with a sad sad story of a family packing for a vacation and a missing favorite paci/lovey.  We packed up nearly everything in our house for Edisto...couldn't find the elephant.  We had to leave to go to a birthday party so we thought well for sure it will show up, probably in the diaper bag, while we are there.  Nope no elephant.  So in my three hour trip thinking about where this dang thing could possibly be...I just decided that I know it's not in this car and ordered another one off amazon to be delivered to the beach.  We probably would have been fine without it, but I felt much better when it got there.  Because remember, Caitlyn got her teeth that week too.  We had been home a week and still no old elephant.  So I thought, well at least it wasn't money wasted.  We probably dropped it at Kroger.
Until today.  On the way to get our Father's Day ice cream Emily tilted Caitlyn's car seat over and there is was.  In the truck, by the seat belt thing.
Now they can be friends.  (and the dirty older brother can get a bath!)

For Father's Day we cooked an awesome steak dinner :)
And here's what James got at the ice cream shop.  Wow
When we got home we realized that we didn't have any baby food so Emily and I made a quick run to target.  We got Caitlyn some cookies that are for "crawlers".
She's still not ready.  She gags.  Not good things happen.
But then she gets a bath in the sink!

Happy Fathers Day

My crawler

Last night when we were at the braves game Caitlyn started crawling at moms house. She loves this yellow Dora ball and it got her moving!

Here's a picture of her showing off her skills this morning :)

And hopefully this video will work!
